Honoring the Cherry & Celebrating Science

While many think of February as the month of Valentine’s Day, we also see it as a time to celebrate the cherry—a symbol of our commitment to sustainable farming. Science plays a vital role in everything we do at the orchard, from understanding soil health to fostering biodiversity. Farming is both an art and a science, requiring curiosity, experimentation, and a deep connection to nature—values we proudly share with women and girls who pursue scientific discovery.

A Passion for Regeneration

My love for nature started in childhood—I even asked my mom to kiss the worms I found, sensing their importance. That same curiosity led me to embrace regenerative agriculture, where scientific principles guide our efforts to restore soil vitality and improve sustainability.

One of my favorite winter tasks is arranging compost deliveries, which enrich our soil, retain moisture, and introduce beneficial microbes. I was thrilled to see earthworms return after just one year of regenerative practices—proof that healthy soil leads to healthier trees and better fruit.
